ENGLISH EVENT 2011 is the MBEC's Annual English Competition for high school, junior high school and university students in Jakarta and Tangerang.

Our Annual English Event provides many attractive competitions :

DEBATE COMPETITION™
Participant : Team – each
team consists of 2 persons
(High School Students only)
DEBATE is a formal method of interactive and representational argument. Debate is a broader form of argument than logical argument, which only examine the consistency from axiom, and factual argument, which only examine what is or isn't the case or rhetoric which is technique of persuasion.


SPELLING BEE COMPETITION
Participant : Individual
(Junior High School and High School Students only)
Just like its name, this competition is about spelling words. You are challenged to mention letters that the word consists of. You may say it sounds easy at first, but after you try, you may find that even just a single word can twist your brain. Obviously, it's not as easy as ABC. Have you felt the challenge? We'll be waiting for you to join this competition.


STORYTELLING COMPETITION (New)
Participant : Individual
(High School Students only)
Storytelling is the conveying of events in words, images and sounds, often by improvisation or embellishment. Stories or narratives have been shared in every culture as a means of entertainment, education, cultural preservation and in order to instill moral values. Crucial elements of stories and storytelling include plot, characters and narrative point of view.


NEWSCASTING COMPETITION
Participant : Individual
(High School Students only)
NEWSCASTING is the broadcasting of various news events and other information via television, radio or internet. The content is usually either produced locally in a newsroom, or by a broadcast network. It may also include such additional material as sports coverage, weather forecasts, traffic reports, commentary and other material that the broadcaster feels is relevant to their audience.


SCRABBLE COMPETITION
Participant : Team – each team consists of 2 persons
(High School and University Students only)
SCRABBLE is a board game which is basically similar to crossword puzzle. The difference is that the letters in SCRABBLE have various values. In the game, each team should follow some rules while they try to form the best word from the randomly picked letters to get the highest score or to block the way of the opposite team player. Furthermore, SCRABBLE is actually not only about words, it is also about tactic and strategy. Join us and prove that you are the master of words.

Participant : Student of junior and senior high school and equal (individual) Registration : Junior High School Rp 80.000,00 / individual - July, 14th, 2011 Senior High Schhol Rp 100.000,00 / individual - July, 14th, 2011 News Casting  For students to show their ability and skills in speech, presenting news according to the theme, and to practice their pronunciation, so the listener can understand their aims. Participant : Student of senior high school and equal Registration : Rp 100.000,00 / individual - June, July, 14th, 2011 Scrabble Battle Participant : Student of Senior high school and Varsity Team, each team consist of 2 persons Registration : (early) Rp 180.000,00 / team – July 07th, 2011 (late) Rp.200.000,00/ team , july 08th- July, 14th, 2011 Dictionary : Zyzyva ver 2.1.0 Lexicon : CSW Story Telling Participant : Student of senior high school and equal Team, each team consist of 5 persons Registration : Rp 140.000,00 / team - July, 14th, 2011 Theme : Opera Van ’Nesia Story Telling Competition is one of the competitions in which Originality, Creativity, Confidence and Attractiveness are mix together as the participants amaze the audiences with their stories in the unique ways. The Story Telling competition will always demand attention from everyone.
